Saturn's rings
Also called: Cassini Division, ring tilt.
Saturn's vast, thin rings of ice — with the Cassini Division, a dark gap between the two brightest.
The rings span 270,000 km but are often less than a kilometre thick. Over Saturn's 29-year orbit we see them from changing angles: wide open, or edge-on, when they almost vanish (as in 2025). The Cassini Division, a 4,800 km gap between the A and B rings, shows in small telescopes when the rings are open.
