# Sky-survey photograph

Also called: DSS, Digitized Sky Survey, object photo.

The photo on each deep-sky object's page: a long-exposure sky survey image, north up, to scale.

AstroPilot shows each deep-sky object as the Digitized Sky Survey photographed it — the great photographic surveys made with large Schmidt telescopes at Palomar and Siding Spring. Long exposures record far more than the eye sees: expect a fainter, greyer view, with the brightest parts first.

**In AstroPilot:** Object pages, the eyepiece framing view and the sky chart's details.
