# Best window

Also called: moon-free window, dark window.

The hours of the night best for observing: dark, clear and — for faint objects — without the Moon.

For each night AstroPilot finds the stretch with the best [observing score](https://astropilot.space/glossary/observing-score). For a single object, its best time is when it's high in a dark sky, away from moonlight and twilight.

**In AstroPilot:** Tonight's headline window, and each object's best time and altitude curve.
